Thankful Thursdays-New Beginnings

Today's quotes have to do with new beginnings. As we are taking down one calender and hanging a new one I am sure we are all thinking about new beginnings. Here are a few quotes I found about this subject that I like. Enjoy!

"You will never reach your goal until you start to take action, any action." Byron Pulsifer

"The secret to a rich life is to have more beginnings than endings." Dave Weinbaum

"One step must start each journey." Author Unknown

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning." Louis L'Amour

Cute!

Do you ever have those moments when your child does something that is to darn cute for words? Will has me feeling that way a lot. Christmas time was no exception.

This first picture was one of him at a friends music store when we where Christmas shopping for Hubby some guitar strings and things.

He loves music and every time we go to the music store he heads strait for the piano. I wish we could get one for our house. That was the last time he would play that piano. The store was moving out of town:(

This is a picture of the first time we popped popcorn in his new popcorn machine Santa brought him.

I have so many more pictures, but they are all of his face. I wish I had more to share!

Too Much Food!!!!

This has been one of the best Christmases I have ever have. It was also the one with the most food!!! We had 4 families worth of food. We had ham, turkey, pork roast, gumbo, and even bar-b-q. We had all the homemade candy, cakes, and pies to go along with it. Even Santa brought us too much candy.

No wonder my stomach has been keeping me up at night and killing me during the day! I have never gone so crazy in the food department. Well out goes all the left overs today. (Not that there's much left now.)

How did everyone else get through the food line? Did you have sugar overloaded kids? I think it was just me in my home who is suffering the too much food illness!

What A Christmas!!!

WOW!! We had a great Christmas! I had no idea our Christmas family celebrating would last for 3 days with 4 different families.

We had Christmas with my Hubby's family on Christmas Eve. That lasted from about 11:00 am until 5:30 pm. We had a great day with loads of food. The ham I looked forward to was sooooo good. I even took a good bit home. (His Mom made extra just for me!) The kids had more gifts and candy than they needed.

We then went home and looked on the computer to track Santa. When he got to South America Will ran to bed! Santa was coming!!!

Christmas morning was the best ever! We got Will up at 7:45 am and told him Santa had come. He hollered all the way to the living room ( about 7 steps), and yelled "A Popcorn Machine!". He loved it.

He never asked about that crazy dinosaur that drips of a mountain!

He opened all his gifts one at a time. I videoed the entire thing. He was so cute. He didn't get a lot, but to him he got the world! With his popcorn machine he got a CARS couch, a Bob the Builder and Wall E movie, and lots of small tractors. He also got pj's, a Wall E toy, Bob the Builder toys, CARS toys, markers, and way too much candy! Santa must have thought he was good.

Then off we went to my family's Christmas. We had some great fried turkey and got to see most of my family. We where tired by the time we got home. We tried out Will's popcorn machine and started one of his movies. That's when the dvd player gave out:( About 3 minutes after we realized we would not be watching a movie that night Hubby's phone rang. A friend of ours invited us to her family's Christmas to go on a hay ride and caroling! Will has never been on a hay ride yet and I love caroling. So off we went. We stayed there until 11:00 pm! Hubby and his friends played the guitar and the kids played until we couldn't go anymore.

Saturday we slept late. Then off we went to the same friends house to visit with his brother who we have not seen in over 3 years. Little did we know they would have his family's Christmas that same time. We didn't bring a gift or anything for anyone! Apparently they had planed this though, because they had gifts for Will. Who knew we had such great family and friends! We stayed at their house until 12:00 am!

WOW! Where we tired! Sunday Hubby's Dad woke us up. He came to visit. We went to church and then we had to go get Will a new dvd player. We came home wore out! I started to clean my house, but had to stop to cook or Sunday night Tacos!

The only down side to all this is that the Saints lost their game:( They still have a great record though:) They'll win next week!!!!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!!!! I will have more stories and pictures later!

Cleaning for Santa

The week of Christmas is a crazy busy one for everyone. For me, my crazy week started Saturday. We had a football party to attend, which lasted way past Will's bed time. Sunday we had a Birthday part! Will was just wore out.

Sunday the battery in my vehicle decided to go out as well. So you can guess what I was doing Monday. That's right I had to go get a new one. Will just wanted to stay home. I did too! We where not in a good mood yesterday. On top of that I have house work to do. I moped yesterday, but my mop (I have one of those Floor Mates from Hoover) broke and I didn't have a "real" mop, so my floor was very wet for a long time. I went get my battery while the floor dried.

Today I have to clean more of the house. Hopefully by Christmas it will be presentable to Santa. I can't have him come to a dirty house! He may just think lumps of coal would work best here! No, can't have that.

Last night I finally got Will to sit still so that I could cut his shaggy hair. I let him play with my cell phone while I cut. It helps him sit still. Here are a few pictures he took. He said he was trying to get a picture of the wild animal that was running around in our house:) Silly boy!

He also painted some ornaments for the tree. It was a kit I bought that had the paint and all in it. (He LOVES to paint!) They started out as a snow man and Santa. Now that he painted them you can't really tell what they are:) They are cute though and are now hanging on my tree!

Quotable Sunday-Babies

With Christmas upon us I though that quotes about babies would be great. The real reason for Christmas is Jesus, and we remember this day as the day he was born into the world. Our world. A world full of sin, sickness, and unbelievers. He was born a baby. A small child who had to be loved and raised to fulfill his purpose on Earth. What better way for us to really relate to Mary as mothers. We, who have given birth and loved and raised our own children. Babies are our future! May all children grow to know and love the Lord or God!

A baby is an angel whose wings decrease as his legs increase. ~Author Unknown

Families with babies and families without babies are sorry for each other. ~Ed Howe

A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on. ~Carl Sandburg

Every child born into the world is a new thought of God, an ever-fresh and radiant possibility.Kate Douglas Wiggin

It kills you to see them grow up. But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn't.Barbara Kingsolver

A New Me!

Yesterday was a big day for me. It's not often I change things. I'm one of those people who go with what works. I don't try the latest fashions or go with the trend. I tend to be more on the classic side.

This may be the reason my hair gets so long. My hubby never fusses over what I wear. He never critiques my makeup or lack of. His opinion on my decorating is not even an issue. He just loves me as I am.

Well, in the last few weeks he has mentioned that it was about time for me to get a hair cut. Since he never really makes a big deal about my style, I figured he was right. Who am I trying to empress anyway. He is mine and I want to keep it that way. So, yesterday was the day! I worked up the courage to get it cut.

I have donated my hair to Locks of Love a few times in the past. This is what I did this time also. I figured it's just going to go in the trash or it could help some child who would really appreciate it. I donated my hair this time too!

It makes me feel good that I can help others. Even if it's just with my hair. Now I'm sporting a new hair cut and feel like a new person. I feel trendier and younger. I know my long hair drags me down and makes me look older. So, now I feel like a 28 year old. It even makes me want to dress better. If only I had better trendier clothes. Oh well, I can always get one new shirt and try that.

Here is a before and after picture. I wanted to get a picture of the actual hair cut, but forgot my camera. Don't look to hard though. I may feel better, but I am far from gorgeous:)

Before....

After....

Don't you know I didn't cry this time. I must have really been ready!

Thankful Thursdays-Socks

Today I am thankful for socks! I am one of those people that have feet of ice most of the time! I'm always cold on my finders, toes, butt, and my nose!

Today is no different. My toes are cold, but I just got new socks and love them. They are comfy and warm. I love new socks!

Something so simple, yet so great! SOCKS!!!

Giveaway Ends Tonight!!~Hurry!!!

Don't forget the Creativity for Kids Giveaway Ends Tonight!!!!

Hurry and Enter Here!!!!

Blessings Of Love!!

I have realized that I am blessed with Love! Today is Hubby's birthday and I couldn't love him more. I want everything possible for him. I give him all my love! He is the reason for my being!

He has given me more than I can ever ask for. We became a couple on Christmas Eve 2002. It's so easy to see why I love him. He is the man I always dreamed of. We married on May 15 2004. Our life together is so easy. We don't really have to work on getting along or agreeing on much. We are almost one person.

Together we have a life like no other. We had a son on August 31 2006. This is when our family became complete. He works hard so that I can be a stay at home mother and wife. He gives all he has to make us happy. This is why I am convinced he is the greatest man on earth.

So today is the day I thank the Lord that he was born! I know that 29 years ago God put a plan in motion. I can't wait to see the rest of his plan through! I hope and pray that we get to grow old together! I'm looking forward to holding his hand as we walk the rest of the way to the Lord!

Happy Birthday Kenny!!!

A Little Giddy!!

OK, we officially have 9 days left till Christmas. This is the most excited I have been over Christmas in a really long time!!! I feel like a little kid.

This year my son is 3 and really getting into Christmas. We talk about what Christmas is really about and he understands. Even with all the Santa stuff, he really understands about Jesus being born on this magical day!

Our Christmas tree has never been so beautiful. Even though it's the same old tree with the same old ornaments (with one or two new ones ), it feels different. It feels more alive. Well, you know what I mean.

This has been a better year for us as far as gifts go too. We actually got all our Christmas shopping done with out using our credit cards. We started earlier and prepared better. I can't wait to give them all out. It's not much, but we can give something and that's what makes my heart fly.

The only worry is Will's crazy dinosaur that drips of a mountain. That is a small worry though. We have talked about it and I don't think it will be a big problem.

With all this excitement I am feeling a little giddy! I have a countdown to Christmas on the right side of my blog in red. I also have a little counter ornament on my tree. Every night I turn it. When we got to 10 days left is when it hit me. The giddiness set in. I can't wait! It's almost harder to be a parent at Christmas than a kid. I just want to drop hints and give gifts at crazy moments in the day. It's getting harder to stop myself!

Do you feel the same way? Share your fun giddy Christmas stories with me! And don't forget I have a great giveaway going on! Enter to win the kit of your choice from Creativity for Kids HERE!!!! Good Luck!

My Journey!

I have been on a journey now for some time. I didn't really realize I was on a journey, but I was. Know that I have realized my journey I feel so much joy. This is not a short journey, nor is it one that is easy.

I have not always been happy in my life. I have my sob stories like anyone else. But, for about four years now, I have been happier than ever. I haven't really sat down and thought about why, but now I know why. When my son was born I started going to Church more regularly. My praying increased and I started realizing that I had a great life. I may not be rich or loved by all, but I was happy. I didn't need all the extras in life. I was happy with what I had.

In June I started blogging. I thought this blog would be a way to help me keep track of all the things my son was doing that amazed me. It turned out that this blog has doing way more than that. I have found others who have blogs that really made me think. I always had a special place in my heart for God and all that I knew of him. But, I realized that I was searching for more. I wanted to become closer to God in a way I have never been before. I want my life to reflect my love for God and to give him praise for what he has given me.

I have been on a journey now to become closer to God for some time. My happiness has increased and my realization of all that I have because of God has increased. I have a long way to go on my journey, but now I know which way to go and how to get there. My journey may take the rest of my life, but it's a journey I will gladly accept. I want to be as close to God as I can.

I have a few people to thank for helping me along the way. I may not have known that they where helping me at the time, but they did and still do. My family has helped, but I have come across a few special Ladies who blog about God and have guided me along the way. They don't know me from anyone else and we have never met, but God has given them a gift to help others. I am one of those others.

A Big Thank You To:

Your blog has made me think of new and better ways to think about everyday things that happen in my life. To realize that God has a hand in it all, and to praise him for it.

Your blog has shown me that I can have a family life that is blessed by God and overflows with his love. In this day and age it's hard to have a successful family life that includes God, but you have shown that it's possible. You give me courage that I can raise my son to know the Lord and love him even more than I do.

Courtney at Women Living Well
Your blog has reminded me of why I love God so much. You have taught me to love my husband better and be more of a Christan Woman, Wife, and Mother. I didn't know if those could all be achieved at once, but you have continually showed me that it can. I love your message to always walk with the King!

Bigguysmama at Woven by Words
Your blog has been the one that first showed me that their are still others out there that follow God. Your love of Christan books and your honest reviews have given me lots of new reading material for me and my family. Not all children's books are created equally.

With the help of these great Women I have come further along on my journey to become closer to God. I have a long bumpy road to go, but I will continue on. The rewards along the way are so great!

Dear Santa...PLEASE HELP!!!!

This year Will is starting to understand all about Santa. He has written a letter to Santa telling him what he wants this year. He started out by telling Santa that he is trying to be a good boy. Then what he would like for Christmas.

His list starts with the most bazaar thing. I have no idea what it is and think he may have just made it up. But just in case if any one knows what this is PLEASE let me know. Are you ready....he wants a dinosaur that drips off a mountain! Crazy I know!!!! I have racked my brain looked on every site with these words on it and nothing. We took him to every toy store we could find and every time we showed him a dinosaur he just shook his head and said that it waned it. What do I do?

So far we tried to explain to him that he may not get everything he wants for Christmas. Santa has a lot of kids to deliver too and his elves may not be able to make a dinosaur that drips off a mountain. We even told him that because Santa knows he has not been good all the time, he may not get everything on his list. I am just praying that on Christmas morning he is so happy with everything else he isn't upset over this.

The other things on his list are CARS toys like a Lightning McQueen Couch and cars. (That is a normal 3 year old request.) He also wants a camera. Like the fisher price camera. (Get ready the next one is a little odd for a 3 year old to want for Christmas.) He wants a popcorn machine. Not just any old popcorn machine, he wants an old fashion one. Luckily I found one on Amazon and used some of my Swag bucks to get it.

So Santa will bring all those things, but the dinosaur that drips off a mountain. I just don't know what that is. PLEASE help me if you have any idea of what this could be!!!!!!

Thankful Thursdays-Cell Phones

I am one of those that grew up with a part line in my home. You know the one that connected to all the houses on that line. I vividly remember hearing that little old lady breathing while I was on the phone with my school friends. Yes, that's the one.

Well my parents got a privet line not long after I was able to use the phone. But, when I started driving they let me get my first cell phone. (Yes, I had to buy it myself but they did pay the bill. I was a responsible teen and never went over my minutes.) I got one of the first flip phones that they had. It was "solid" and worked for about 3 years, until I dropped it in the washing machine and then it still worked it just spoke spanish.

Now I realize how important my cell phone is to me. I still don't have the top of the line phone, but I don't need all that extra stuff. I just need to call out and get calls. I do like the occasional text message though:) Last year some time I had washed my Hubby's cell phone in the washing machine (we go through more phones that way) and had to get him a new one. Since our contract was up they offered us a great deal on new phones for us both. ( I have only had two "new" phones ever. I usually keep a phone until I have to call in the insurance on it and get an upgrade because my phone is no longer in production.) Well, they didn't come with the care chargers only wall chargers. They where $25.00 extra! So, we went to Walmart and got Hubby a car charger because he drove a truck for a living. I didn't think I really needed one.

I found out that I did need one. I had been shopping with my Mother-In-Law all day and on the way home my phone died. Well I dropped her off and used her phone to call my Hubby to tell him my phone had died but I was on my way home. Don't you know after leaving my Mother-In-Law's house my car acted up. Every time I hit about 50 miles an hour it started making this crazy sound and felt like it was catching on something. I pulled over into this new subdivision and got out to look. I didn't see anything wrong. That's when this big scary construction worker comes out of one of the houses to ask me if I needed help. He said he had a phone that worked inside. I am one of those people that always think of the worst, and just knew he was trying to get me to go inside so he could rape and kill me, then leave in my car with my sleeping child in the back seat to do God know what?

I thanked him nicely and said it was nothing and drove out of there. For the record that construction worker was the only person in that subdivision working that day! No one else was around. After getting to about 50 again my car did it again. Thank the Dear Lord they had just built a Dollar General in that town and it was still open. I pulled in and looked around. As I grabbed my purse I noticed that the emergency brake was pulled up a little. My lovely Mother-In-Law must have pulled it up with her purse handles as she got out of the car. I pushed it back down and drove with no more problems all the way home. I was so happy to be home I was in tears. When I told my Hubby about it he got us back in the car and to Walmart we went. I got a car charger for me this time.

I never go anywhere with out my cell phone now! It is always charged and ready to go! We love our cell phones so much we got rid of our house phone. And this is why I am so thankful for cell phones!!!!

Thankful Thursdays are brought to you by Sherry at Saving Sherry. Go on over and see what she's thankful for or add your own. We would all love to know what your thankful for!

Creativity for Kids Review and Giveaway!

I love to make memories for myself and my family. I have been obsessed with making memories for my son and capturing them in some way. I know he probably won't remember all the things we did when he's older, so I like to write it down, take pictures, video it, or save an item that reminds me of the event.

I have been lucky enough to review a great product that will be a memory for us as well as a keepsake. Creativity for Kids is a company that makes products for kids to boost creativity and imagination. They give you the supplies and your children create whatever their imagination can come up with.

They offer many different kit from creating your own books to a do it yourself art pottery studio.

I was sent the Festive Felt Stocking kit to review. This was right up my alley. My son loves to do art projects and he couldn't wait to do this one. I let him go wild with his decorating of his stocking. He wanted to decorate the big one and I was allowed to do the small one.

This is the end results. I did help him a little:)

We decorated both sides!

Snow!!!

This is the pictures I promised of the snow we had here in Louisiana Friday night. It took me forever to find the snow setting on my camera. I never thought I would really need it. So when I did find it, it was after the snow fell and we played in it. It then began to sleet and melt. I took a few pictures, but they didn't come out as well as the daytime pictures I took the next morning. So here they are.

Will loved it all. We watched it fall the night before and then played in it. He pulled his little wagon through it. It was so cute to see the snow gather on the wheels and watch him yank it out . I took the snow off the vehicles and we made snow balls to through at each other. That didn't last very long. Will wanted to collect the snow balls and put them in his wagon. We even made a small snow man on my truck. The snow balls that I packed lasted on the ground until Sunday morning.

We had a lot of fun, but I was not prepared and Will had no gloves. He ended up in my knit ones that where way too big and got wet and cold. He did have two of everything on though, and we got him a big winter coat last year on clearance that was perfect. I have since gone and gotten him gloves and thermal underwear. He can use them when we go to my dad's camp later on. I don't think it will really snow again here, but you never know. This will make great memories for us.

Quotable Sunday-Money

Today's quotes are brought to you by Toni at A Daily Dose of Toni.

I am doing quotes about money because we all need it the most when we don't have enough. During Christmas is one of those times.

"A penny saved is a penny earned." - Benjamin Franklin

"Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time." - Jim Rohn

"What difference does it make how much you have? What you do not have amounts to much more." - Seneca

"If you want to know what God thinks about money, just look at the people He gives it to." - Dorothy Parker

"The safest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it in your pocket." -

Kin Hubbard

And my favorite one is....

"The easiest way for your children to learn about money is for you not to have any." - Katharine Whitehorn

Snow! In Louisiana!!

Who would have thunk it? It snowed in Louisiana! I have wanted to see snow fall all my life. Today was the day I got to see it. It was late and dark, but I got to see it! We turned on our porch light and stared at the falling snow like little children stare at Toys-R-Us around Christmas time.

In my memory it has sleeted and sometimes stuck. I was about 10 when this happened. Last year it kind of snowed. We woke up to an ice covered ground that we consider snow. But today was real honest to goodness snow. I saw the flakes and they where as beautiful as all the northerners describe. They where big too. I always thought of snow flakes as little soft things. These where huge. Like the size of quarters.

We let Will stand in it when it started to fall. Then after dinner we played in it. We made a snow man (a very small one) and had a snow ball fight. We didn't really have that much snow, but it was enough for me. I only hope it sticks long enough for us to play in again in the morning. If so, I will have pictures to post later. I feel like a little kid again!

Thankful Thursdays-Bills

Today is Thankful Thursday. I enjoy going through all the things I am thankful for to find on to blog about, so I decided why just do it for one month. I am thankful for things all year round and so I will keep my Thankful Thursdays!

I am thankful for bills. Yes, Bills! Having bills for things like electricity, water, and gas remind me that I have a home to live in and a warm place for my family. Bills for telephones, satellite TV, and Internet remind me that we can afford these extras. Bills like tires for the truck and gas for the truck remind me we have a working vehicle that takes us to see friends and family, as well as to doctor appointments if need be.

I am most thankful that my hubby has a job that pays him enough that we can pay all those bills and I still can stay home with my little man. We make it in this hard would. Barley, but we make it! That is what I am thankful for. I have everything I need!

This And That

This is a post of mostly this and that. I have a little to share about a lot of different things.

To start with, Will helped me put up our tree. I put it up and he decorated it. He had help from his cousin Dustin this year. Dustin helped him put ornaments on the top. This way I didn't have a tree decorated form the middle down like last year:) Here is a picture of it!

I also had to take a picture of Horsey his favorite stuffed horse and best friend!

I entered my Christmas Tree in the contest over at Mama Buzz! I don't really think I will win, but it's fun. Horsey LOVES my tree:)

I also had the opportunity of trying this new toothpaste that was sent to me by SheSpeaks. It's called Aquafresh® iso-active®.

I love getting to try new things, especially for free! This was an item that I am so glad I got to try. The website has this to say:

Aquafresh Iso-Active Whitening doesn’t look like an ordinary toothpaste, and it doesn't act like one, either! Given that 40 percent of your tooth surface is hidden between your teeth, getting your mouth healthy and clean can be a challenge. But Iso-Active's revolutionary gel activates the moment you start brushing, transforming into a micro-fine foam. This active foam penetrates hard-to-reach places around your mouth, protecting between your teeth and giving you a whole-mouth clean.

Well, I agree that it doesn't look or act like an ordinary toothpaste. The stuff foams A LOT! I had to wash my mouth out after only half my teeth where brushed. The flavor is ok for me. Some say it is flavorless, but I don't like too much of a mint flavor. I didn't notice my teeth getting any whiter. I did only us it for a week though. My opinion is don't bother getting it. It foams way too much and is overpriced, even with the coupons they offer. This is just my opinion though! I would like to say a big thank you to SheSpeaks! I will always give my honest opinion.

In other news, I feel like I haven't spent enough time (playing) with Will. So, today is all about him. We watched cartoons this morning, played cars, musical chairs, went to "his" library, and we are about to make peanut butter cookies! I wonder what the rest of the day will bring. Tomorrow he is excited about grocery shopping. He started his own make believe list. How cute is that!

I also wanted to tell everyone about the giveaway I will be having soon! It is my first giveaway ever. It was suppose to start today, but I had some technical difficulties. It will be soon though! I hope you love it!!!!

Football Night

Last night was football night in our house. The New Orleans Saints played against the New England Patriots. We are Saints fans!

My hubby has been a Saints fan since birth. He is not a fair weather fan. This year he has been in Heaven with them winning every game they played. My son loves the Saints too. (Mostly because Dad does!)

They were so cute watching the game together. Will had his Saints jersey on and hubby had his Saints blanket around him. I am not allowed in the room during the big game. He found out early in the season that every time I walk in the room something bad happens. So I stayed in the kitchen or on the computer for most of the game. I don't believe in superstitions, but it can't hurt. ( I don't really care for football ether way.)

It is so funny to hear hubby yell at the tv, and then hear Will yell too. He's not to sure what he's yelling about, but if Daddy does it so does he. I can only imagine what someone would think if they walked up to our house during the game. The noise would scare wild animals away:)

This is a picture of Will getting a candy during a break in the game. He was all into it. Hurrying to get his candy out of the candy bucket and wanting to know if the game was back on. So cute!!!

In the end the Saints won again. The score was Saints 38 Patriots 17. Hubby was a happy man!!! Will was a sleepy boy!! The game ended around 10:30 pm. Way past his bed time. They had fun watching the game together though. Will only took a break long enough to take a bath. The Saints are now 11-0. WOW!
