Holiday Trouble
How was every one's Thanksgiving? Who even celebrated Thanksgiving? Does anyone even know why we celebrate it or why it's even considered a holiday? And what's up with all the turkey cooking?
That's a lot of questions to start a post with, but I want to know the answer to all of them. I'll start with my answers and then I will be expecting yours shortly!
1. How was everyone's Thanksgiving? Well, mine was uneventful. Hubby was working and Will and I just stayed home. It was a normal day for us. Will and I did make turkey cup cakes though, but no turkey was cooked in our home.
2. Who even celebrated Thanksgiving? Well, we didn't really. Everyday I try to find things to be thankful for, so as for the thankful part, it was just another day. We did go to my MIL for lunch the next day where she had cooked a turkey though.
3. Does anyone even know why we celebrate it or why it's even considered a holiday? I thought I use to know. I thought it was because of the Pilgrims and Indians first big meal together, but that has been proven by experts to not be true. They have found evidence that it never happened the way we all thought it did and the Indians where not even invited! (If they would have known then what they know now, I'm sure they would have let the Pilgrims starve.) I also thought it was a day to be thankful for everything we have been blessed with, but so many people don't even believe in God anymore. I feel so bad that most people, even those that do believe God is the one who blessed us so greatly, only find one day a year to be thankful. As for it being a holiday, well, we only have one letter written from someone that was at the "first thanksgiving". Our holiday is based on that one short little letter. If not for that letter we wouldn't even know about the so called "first thanksgiving".
4. And what's up with all the turkey cooking? Who knows if they had turkey that day? I don't know and don't even care. I much rather ham! I think the turkey farmers had something to do with all that turkey talk.
So, now I am waiting on your answers! Does Thanksgiving even mean anything anymore?

Frito-Lay!!!!
I know most of you don't know this, but I am a member of the Frito-Lay fan program.
My family love Frito-Lay chips! So when asked to be a member I jumped at the chance. I was contacted not long ago, and told about the manufacturing facility in Casa Grande, Arizona. What is amazing about the Casa Grande facility is that they are produce almost no waste!
They use a technology that recycles water, generate electricity and steam from renewable energy sources, and has achieved LEED certification and succeeded in sending nearly zero waste to the landfill.
At all their facilities they reuse shipping cartons up to six times before recycling them to help reduce waste. All Frito-Lay manufacturing plants are striving to divert at least 99% of waste from landfills.
They even added 1,200+ fuel-efficient Sprinter vehicles to its fleet along with converting 650 sales cars to hybrid vehicles to help reduce emissions. Now, they are even using all electric route delivery trucks in some of their metropolitan markets.
For more than a decade, Frito-Lay North America has been committed to reducing the use of key major resources and the company’s overall environmental footprint. Their goal is to reduce their use of water by 75%; natural gas by 50%; electricity by 45% and fuel by 50% - all by 2020.
So, after finding all of this out about the company, I wanted to share it with all of you. They also sent me a Frito-Lay snack pack to try the chips they make in their Casa Grande facility. I was expecting a snack pack in the mail, but what I got truly surprised me! I received 4 full size bags of chips which included Lay’s Classic potato chips, Tostitos Restaurant Style with a Hint of Lime tortilla chips, a bag of SunChips in Harvest Cheddar, and a bag of SunChips in Garden Salsa. I also received a reusable Frito-Lay grocery bag made from recycled material, which was pink!!!!!
This couldn't get any better. I must say that I am now addicted to the SunChips in Garden Salsa! All of the chips where great. In fact we ate them all before I could even take a picture of my great snack pack! I can give you a picture of my great grocery bag though. I just can't tell you how much I love that it's pink!!!!
A Long Time Coming....
I know I haven't posted in a long time. I have had a lot going on and a lot of feelings to work out.
When I started this blog I meant it to help me deal with being a new mom and all the crazy stuff that came with it. I wanted to document all the small things that happened in my life as a Mom for myself and our son as he got older. I didn't want to forget a thing.
The popularity of my blog has become way more than I bargained for. Don't get me wrong, I love that others actually care to read and leave me comments with encouraging words and helpful tips.
This has made me start blogging about other things in my life. I have even wanted to vent on this blog. That was not my intent at all when I started blogging. I have taken a long, much needed vacation from blogging. In this time I have realized that I want to change my blog a bit. In the coming weeks you may see new things and notice a change in my subjects. I will no longer keep this blog as a document of my son's childhood achievements. I may still have him in a few posts, but not as many.
So this blog will now have a lot less personal things on it and a lot more giveaways and tips and such. I really don't know what the future holds for my blog. If you care to continue following and reading along, please do.
We'll see how this goes. My life has become VERY busy since my son started school. (Who would have thunk it right?) Post may not come every day like they use to. Only time will tell.

Mommy's Secret Is Out......
Yes, I had a secret. Will never needed to know. At lest that's what I kept telling myself.
He is already getting so big and growing so fast. I was trying to hold on to every last feeling of having a little baby boy in my life still. I am forced to let him grow up though. Hubby reminds me constantly that he is growing up and there is nothing I can do about it. That is one of the reasons I have been keeping my secret form Will. Hubby talked me into reveling it. What was I thinking?
When Will was small he never slept in the bed with us, but he did sleep in a bassinet in our room. So, when he got bigger he moved to his own room. The problem was that Mommy slept on the floor until he fell asleep. The "let him cry it out and fall asleep on his own" thing did not work. He would cry until he made himself sick and then vomit on EVERY THING!
As he got older his crib converted to a toddler bed and Mommy moved to the couch. Now by this point Will thought that Mommy was sleeping on the couch all night. He knew when he got up to look for Mommy in her bed room, but that never seemed odd to him.
Well, this summer we felt the school year coming up fast and Hubby decided that Will needed to know that Mommy did not sleep on the couch. We broke it to him real slow, but he still didn't understand that I have not been sleeping on the couch. That night we told him good night, tucked him in, and went to our own bed. That is when the crying began.
We tried this for a few nights, but he never let go. He asked over and over again for Mommy to "just sleep on the couch". He would not accept the fact that Mommy has been sleeping in her room all this time.
After a week or so, I thought he finally understood and we where all good on the subject. That was until I realized that he now tries to just fall asleep as soon as possible. That means, that while I am cleaning the kitchen or taking a bath, he tries to fall asleep so he doesn't have to think about me going to bed in my room. Silly boy! He has now been doing this for over a month. It works for me, but I just haven't told Hubby exactly what I figured out. LOL!!! The only thing that bothers me now is that he insists on a night light now. He never had one before and until he heard his cousin say she was scared of the dark, he never was. All that hard work of checking in on him at night with a flash light is down the drain. I hate night lights!!!

Thrifty Shopping!
I love a good deal and so, I often go looking for garage sales, re-sale shopps and thrift stores.
There is a church re-sale shop I know of in a neer by town that I love. It is about the size of a grocery store. They have everything from clothes, to toys, to furniture. They even have items that are seasonal. All the items are donated to them and all the proceeds go to the church. They use the money they make to have maintenance done on the church and to help finance there other projects to help the community.
I haven't been to this particular store for some time now. They are only open on certain days at certain times. It just never works out that I'm in that town when they are open. Until Last week! Hubby and I took a trip to that town to do some shopping and have some together time. He surprised me with agreeing to go with me to the re-sale store. (He isn't really into shopping at re-sale stores, or garage sales for that matter.)
We walked around that big old store for a while. He was amazed at some of the things that we came across. We ended up walking up out with a pair of jeans for Will that looked brand spanking new for $0.99, A CD I had been wanting for $1.79, and two peruses for me! One purse was $6.50 and one was $1.99. Both are name brand and one is real leather. They are both clean and brand new without tags. I can't tell you the last time I got myself a new purse. I have been carrying a Dooney & Bourke that I got at a garage sale at least a year ago for $2.50. (They had no idea what they had. LOL!) The purse I had before that was a Kathy Van Zeeland from eBay for $7.50. Nether one of those purses where brand new and clean as I would have liked them.
Here are the pictures of my haul!!!
Here are the jeans we got for Will ($0.99) and the cd ($1.79) I had been wanting.
This is the purse I paid $6.50 for. It is a Nine & Co. by Nine West.
This is the purse I paid$1.99 for. It is a South Pole.
All together I spent $11.27 plus tax! I don't even know what all those things would have cost me brand new from the store. I am guessing around $80.00 at least.

PARTY!!!!
As most of you know, Will's birthday was August 31st.
It shouldn't surprise you that this is a major event in our household. We celebrate this more than almost anything else. Hubby and my birthday go almost unnoticed compared to Will's. He doesn't really have just a birthday. He has a birthday week! And what a week it was.
I posted the pictures of all the cup cakes I made for his class last week. Today I 'm going to show off the cake I made! He decided to have a Monster Jam Party! I thought for sure Monster Jam was something popular and would be easy to find.
Boy was I wrong. Monster Jam must just be a southern country kind of thing. I have even noticed that it's popularity is localized to certain parts of the state. We searched stores in many towns to find him Monster Jam trucks. Toys R Us was wiped out. The manager told me when they come in they fly off the shelves. The crazy thing is, that they never know when they will get them on the truck.
We found him toys in about 5 different towns and 15 different stores. I even had to get one off of eBay. Yes it was that hard to find. I paid $10.00 for a toy (including shipping) that I could have gotten at Walmart for $3.88. The only problem was, that they didn't have any. It was the most popular truck and the Monster Jam Web site was even out! Can you guess what it was? If you are a Monster Jam fan you knew it was Grave Digger!
Every year I make Will's cake myself, but this year I didn't even have the option of buying one. NOBODY makes a Monster Jam cakes. After some thought and a few web searches I cam up with this. What do you think?
Will's birthday turned out great! It rained for his party, but the kids had a blast inside anyway. I learned one very important thing from that day.
We love our son more than anything in the world and love to see him happy. I also learned that my family doesn't give a crap about me, because only my Dad and my sister showed up form my side of my family. No one even called to say they couldn't make it, but have a great day anyway! I am still fired up about this. After asking a few of them, they told me that they thought it would be canceled because of the rain. I'm wondering if they really thought I wouldn't call them if I canceled my only son's birthday party? All they had to say was that they didn't feel like coming and have a great day anyway. It's not a big deal. Most of them didn't come to the last few either.
I could go on and on about the excuses I got about why my family didn't come. But to me the only ones that mattered where the family members who did called. There was only 1 by the way. Will's Godmother had to work and her little girl was sick anyway. Everyone else can just go **** themselves. I now know where I stand in my family, and with half of the people I thought where my friends. This definitely opened my eyes and I have been praying about the hurt in my heart, but I will be looking at things very different now.
I was always the one to do for others when I could, but now I know I am being used most of the time, and I will be saying no to alot more people and there kids birthday parties,....and baby sitting,....and whatever else they call me for. By the way, these are the same people that only call me when they need something.
I'm far from a mean person and hate to be mean to others, but now all I have to do is think back to the hurt I felt the day of Will's birthday party to remember why I should say no!
Ok, that's enough ranting for today. Sorry about that if you are still reading by this point! I'm just still hurting inside. It's hard when you realize your close loving family isn't what it use to be. I don't know if the times have changed or the people:(

Pillsbury® Sweet Moments® Giveaway!!!! (CLOSED)
Yea!!! Another great Giveaway!!!!
I was asked by MyBlogSpark to try the Pillsbury® Sweet Moments® brownies and share what I thought about them. Well, I just jumped at the chance. Who doesn't love brownies? I sure do!!!!
I was given 2 VIP coupons for the free purchase of any Pillsbury® Sweet Moments® variety, a very cozy chocolate brown fleece blanket, a big coffee mug, and a leather journal. Once it all came in the mail, I ran to the store to pick out my brownies!!!! They come in Cocoa Fudge Escape, Cocoa Caramel Obsession, Caramel Brownie Cheesecake, and Raspberry Brownie Cheesecake.
By the time I got to my grocery store they where already all gone:( So, I had to wait and go to another store in a near by town. (You can tell I wanted them bad! LOL!!)
I ended up getting the last two bags that where available at the last grocery store. I got the Cocoa Carmel Obsession and the Cocoa Fudge Chip! After trying them I have to say, I know exactly why the stores where out! They are soooo good!

Happy Birhtday Will!!!!
Today My little baby boy turns 5 and Mommy is a basket case!
I think I have already hit every emotion possible. I have been happy and laughing, sad and crying, been nervous about how much he will need me (or not need me) this year, I have even complained and wined.
Now I am waiting for snack time at school. I get to bring cup cakes to him and all his class mates! This is one of the school activities I have been looking forward to!
Here are the cup cakes I made. I'm not the caftyest person, or the most inventive, but this is a picture of the cup cakes I made for his class. He is over the moon with them, so I guess that means I did a good job. LOL!
Next week I will have pictures and details from his party Saturday! Wish me luck!!!!

Cheep O' Razor and another GIVEAWAY!!!! (CLOSED)
Have you ever been in the shower and realized at the very wrong moment that you didn't grab a towel? I think we've all been there before.
Well I had a new moment when I realized I didn't have what I needed, when I needed it. You see I am one of those people that always make sure I order new contacts as soon as I see I only have one pair left. I am the one that makes sure more toilet paper in next to the toilet when I see the role is almost gone. I even make sure their is always a bar of soap ready to grab in the shower, but this time I messed up.
I am one of those coupon shoppers who always has a ton of razors. I am also one of those people who use a razor for who knows how long. (Way past the normally throw it out and get a new one period.) The last time I bought razors was about 2 years ago. I bought a load of them too. I got a really good deal at Target on the name brand kind with three or four blades.
So, I through my razor away after I figured it had seen it's better days and the only days left in font of it where some bad razor burn days. A few days after throwing away this razor, I go to my stock pile of bathroom items, and low and behold I don't have any more razors. The only pack left in my basket is a cheep O' pack of razors I happen to come apron years ago.
Running through my mind is all the razor burns I've suffered through in the past with these cheep razors. I look at the bathroom trash can and consider pulling out my old used up razor........No, I won't do it......That's gross.....but we didn't really throw anything in that trash can but empty toilet paper roles, an empty eye wash bottle, an old tooth brush, and a few other scraps. It wouldn't be so bad to just dig it out....NO, I won't do it. I will use the cheep o' razor.
Well, that was the last time I will do that! As soon as I could, I pulled out all my coupons for razors! ALL OF THEM! I was going to find a good deal on razors some where. On shopping day I went on a hunt and found just what I was looking for. I now have good razors again! Yeaaaaa Me!!!
Some things you just can't do without. My coupons and sales are the best! I can get what I need that I would have to do without other wise. So, this lead up to a giveaway! How would you like an envelope full of coupons to come in your mail? I love coupons in my mail. I am going to give one of my lucky readers a surprise in their mail box. I have coupons that can't be found in the Sunday paper. Coupons that I am willing to share with you!

Welcome To A New World
As you grow life changes. You grow up with your family, then before you know it your on your own. You discover a new world that you didn't know exsited before. You have a job to pay bills you never had before. You can make decisions all on your own. You can eat cake for dinner if you want to.
Wow, that was a big deal. Then your world changes again when you get married and start a family. All of a sudden you have someone who depends on you. Those bills you had before multiply and you have to make real ruls for your family. There goes the eating cake for dinner thing!
Right when you are comfortable with your world it changes again. Your little baby boy, your only child, is going to school. This is when you realize that not only is your world changing, so is his. He isn't in his safe home with his Mommy and Daddy. He can't eat when he wants and take his time doing it. He has a new person to listen to and new rules to follow. His world has just changed! What a big change too!
This means your life has to change to. Your baby boy isn't a baby. He is growing up. He will learn new things and want to be more independent. He will learn bad behaviors as well as good ones. He will learn that not everyone has the same kind of family life he has. He will learn that the world is bigger than he thought.
What can a Momma do? My baby is growing up and as hard as that is for me, I have to accept it.

Will started his first day of school Monday. Kindergarten is a new world to him, but he is doing good so far. Lots of changes have been taking place in our lives. Going to school has been one of them, but to top it off, he lost his very first tooth the day before he started his very first day of school.

Thankful Thursday
Today I am going to share how thankful I am that God gives and He takes away. We have been blessed with all that He has given us, but do we really thank Him for all the things he takes away?
So often we are thankful for new jobs, new babies, new friends, and new journeys. How often do are we thankful for the loss of a job, the loss of a friend, or the loss of any kind? Today I am thankful for a loss. As most of you know I have been asking for your prayers concerning my son's Medicaid. I got the call Friday that he is was turned down because our income is $7.50 too much a month. We are eligible for the LaCHIP affordable plan that is $50 a month and doesn't cover much of anything.
How can I be thankful for this? Well, I am thankful that I have so many friends that prayed with me. I am thankful that my son is healthy and we don't have to depend on Medicaid for his survival. I am thankful that God has another plan for us. Because no matter what happens, we are in God's hands. He will know what to do and lead us in the right direction. He has not left us to take care of ourselves. I know He is in control. With God's plan in place, I walk with a smile on my face. We will make it through. It took a while for me to remember God's love after this hard news, but I did! Losing Will's Medicaid was a hard thing for me, but also a great reminder that The Lord has His own plans that may be different than mine.
At this time we have decided not to get the $50 plan. We will see where our path that God has for us leads. In the future we may have the extra money for the $50 plan or be able to get Will's Medicaid back. Only God knows. We where blessed to have Medicaid for Will's first 5 years of his life!
What has God taken away from you that you can be thankful for?
Thank you to Laurie who is the host of Thankful Thursday this month. You can find her at Women Taking A Stand.

A Busy Bee In Camouflage
Last week was a very emotional roller coaster for me. This week wasn't so bad, but has still been busy. I am trying to get Will ready for school and still spend the last few days with him as a preschooler. By Monday he will officially be a school age child.
Wow! I'm going to miss having him right next to me 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The thing that kills me the most is the Independence the Kindergarten teachers are dead set on teaching him. He will soon learn to find his class room on his own in the mornings, and stand next to the room waiting for the teacher and not make a ton of noise with the other kids. He will learn to find his way to the lunch room and back. He will have to learn to get his plate, find his seat, eat in a timely manner, put up his trash, and find his way back to class all on his own. (The teachers and bigger kids will help at first.)
This was a big wake up call for me. My little boy is growing up. I know I'm not ready for a big boy yet :( What happened to my baby? (sigh)
I am preparing myself by staying busy. I have been personalizing everything he needs for school in my own sort of crafty way. He had a chair back that I paid someone to embroider for me. I had his name put on it. I didn't want to totally bedazzle it. He is a boy and all. (Plus Hubby really would not be for the bedazzled chair back for his son!)
I did get to put his name on his back pack myself though. He chose a camouflage back pack. (It's twice his size! LOL!!!) I tried to paint his name on it. I went to Michael's and got orange paint and stencils. I even got an iron-on applique he picked out.
I got busy putting on his name. I started by taking an old shirt to try it out on first. I didn't want to totally ruin his back pack if it didn't work.
It's a good thing I tried it on an old shirt, because it surly didn't work. I was totally bummed. I was set on having his name on his back pack though. So I decided to try something different. I took the two old shirts and cut them up. Sewed them together and cut the letters of his name out from the same shirts. I sewed that on there too. It worked!
Here is his new school back pack. Name and all!!!
What do you think? Good or does it look like a big mess? I have mixed feelings about it. It's not what I wanted, but it's still unique.

Thankful Thursdays
It's Thursday again my friends. I'm not sure what happened to the first part of the week. I know it was there, but it was full of emotions. I have herd before that you go through every emotion each day. I have always believed that.
This week has been hard on me. I've had shock over how much everything has gone up in a year (we went to the eye doctor), I've felt despair, sadness, and self pity over something I wanted soooo bad that was just not meant to be, and I've felt happy, excited, nervous and scared over my little boy going to meet his Kindergarten teacher for the first time. All those feelings happened in three days. I am ready to get into my old happy go lucky emotions.
So, now you are wondering what I could possibly be thankful for after all that. Well, I am thankful for each and every emotion I had. It is amazing how God has made us. We are so intricately designed and the emotions that we are given is just the tip it all.
Without our emotions we would be so different. We wouldn't be the great people we are today. Imagine your life without just one of the emotions you feel. I don't think I would want to loose any of my emotions. Sometimes I just wish I could keep them to myself a little more;)
I can only imagine that God's feelings for us. He loves us a million and more times than we can ever imagine loving someone. When we think our sadness is going to kill us we must remember how much sadder God is sometimes. WOW!
I also wanted to thank all of you who have been praying with me about my son's Medicaid. I still have not gotten a letter or a phone call telling me if he will get renewed. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. This is heavy on my heart right now.
