Holiday Trouble

How was every one's Thanksgiving?  Who even celebrated Thanksgiving?  Does anyone even know why we celebrate it or why it's even considered a holiday?  And what's up with all the turkey cooking?

That's a lot of questions to start a post with, but I want to know the answer to all of them.  I'll start with my answers and then I will be expecting yours shortly!

1. How was everyone's Thanksgiving?  Well, mine was uneventful.  Hubby was working and Will and I just stayed home.  It was a normal day for us.  Will and I did make turkey cup cakes though, but no turkey was cooked in our home.

2.  Who even celebrated Thanksgiving?  Well, we didn't really.  Everyday I try to find things to be thankful for, so as for the thankful part, it was just another day.  We did go to my MIL for lunch the next day where she had cooked a turkey though.

3.  Does anyone even know why we celebrate it or why it's even considered a holiday?  I thought I use to know.  I thought it was because of the Pilgrims and Indians first big meal together, but that has been proven by experts to not be true.  They have found evidence that it never happened the way we all thought it did and the Indians where not even invited!  (If they would have known then what they know now, I'm sure they would have let the Pilgrims starve.)  I also thought it was a day to be thankful for everything we have been blessed with, but so many people don't even believe in God anymore.  I feel so bad that most people, even those that do believe God is the one who blessed us so greatly, only find one day a year to be thankful.  As for it being a holiday, well, we only have one letter written from someone that was at the "first thanksgiving".  Our holiday is based on that one short little letter.  If not for that letter we wouldn't even know about the so called "first thanksgiving".

4.  And what's up with all the turkey cooking?  Who knows if they had turkey that day?  I don't know and don't even care.  I much rather ham!  I think the turkey farmers had something to do with all that turkey talk.

So, now I am waiting on your answers!  Does Thanksgiving even mean anything anymore?

Frito-Lay!!!!

I know most of you don't know this, but I am a member of the Frito-Lay fan program.

My family love Frito-Lay chips!  So when asked to be a member I jumped at the chance.  I was contacted not long ago, and told about the manufacturing facility in Casa Grande, Arizona.  What is amazing about the Casa Grande facility is that they are produce almost no waste!
They use  a technology that recycles water, generate electricity and steam from renewable energy sources, and has achieved LEED certification and succeeded in sending nearly zero waste to the landfill.

At all their facilities they reuse shipping cartons up to six times before recycling them to help reduce waste.  All Frito-Lay manufacturing plants are striving to divert at least 99% of waste from landfills.

They even added 1,200+ fuel-efficient Sprinter vehicles to its fleet along with converting 650 sales cars to hybrid vehicles to help reduce emissions. Now, they are even using all electric route delivery trucks in some of their metropolitan markets.

For more than a decade, Frito-Lay North America has been committed to reducing the use of key major resources and the company’s overall environmental footprint.  Their goal is to reduce their use of water by 75%; natural gas by 50%; electricity by 45% and fuel by 50% - all by 2020.

So, after finding all of this out about the company, I wanted to share it with all of you.  They also sent me a Frito-Lay snack pack to try the chips they make in their Casa Grande facility.  I was expecting a snack pack in the mail, but what I got truly surprised me!  I received 4 full size bags of chips which included Lay’s Classic potato chips, Tostitos Restaurant Style with a Hint of Lime tortilla chips, a bag of SunChips in Harvest Cheddar, and a bag of SunChips in Garden Salsa.  I also received a reusable Frito-Lay grocery bag made from recycled material, which was pink!!!!!

This couldn't get any better.  I must say that I am now addicted to the SunChips in Garden Salsa!  All of the chips where great.  In fact we ate them all before I could even take a picture of my great snack pack!  I can give you a picture of my great grocery bag though.  I just can't tell you how much I love that it's pink!!!!

A Long Time Coming....

I know I haven't posted in a long time.  I have had a lot going on and a lot of feelings to work out.

When I started this blog I meant it to help me deal with being a new mom and all the crazy stuff that came with it.  I wanted to document all the small things that happened in my life as a Mom for myself and our son as he got older.  I didn't want to forget a thing.

The popularity of my blog has become way more than I bargained for.  Don't get me wrong, I love that others actually care to read and leave me comments with encouraging words and helpful tips.

This has made me start blogging about other things in my life.  I have even wanted to vent on this blog.  That was not my intent at all when I started blogging.  I have taken a long, much needed vacation from blogging.  In this time I have realized that I want to change my blog a bit.  In the coming weeks you may see new things and notice a change in my subjects.  I will no longer keep this blog as a document of my son's childhood achievements.  I may still have him in a few posts, but not as many.

So this blog will now have a lot less personal things on it and a lot more  giveaways and tips and such.  I really don't know what the future holds for my blog.  If you care to continue following and reading along, please do.

We'll see how this goes.  My life has become VERY busy since my son started school.  (Who would have thunk it right?)  Post may not come every day like they use to.  Only time will tell.
