Meet Me On Monday!

Welcome to another Meet Me On Monday!  As always it is hosted by Java over at Never Growing old.  Thanks Java, for all the great questions you come up with.

Today's questions are:

1.  What do you put on your hot dog?  I like chili, cheese, relish, and mustard on my hot dog. Mmmmmmm! I have only had one hot dog from a road side vendor years ago in New Orleans.  He had all kinds of toppings.  I would love to have that experience again and choose something new to try!

2.  Do you play Sudoku?  No.  I don't really even know what Sudoku is!  I do like to play a few card games and children's monopoly.  Yes, the children's version.  It doesn't take as long and is just as much fun! (I have a short attention span.)  I also like to play Zuma and bejeweled on facebook.

3.  What is your favorite vegetable?  Since I consider tomatoes as vegetables that is my favorite.  If you put the tomato in the fruit category then I would have to say corn, carrots, and peas.  I like them mixed.

4.  Do you color your hair?  No.  My hair is red, and will not take color if I wanted it too.  I once tried to highlight it.  They had me under the drier for 2 hours.......and nothing.  It just won't take.  I got it to take a little in the front when I was  young.  I had foil in my hair for hours.  The color did take finally, but it was not the color it was suppose to be.  I put in a white blond color.  It turned into a honey blond.

5.  What is your favorite brand of clothing?  I don't have a favorite brand.  I where what ever I can find that fits and is cheep.  I always buy for myself last, and by then there is very little money left.  I feel really bad if I buy a shirt that is over $10.00.  If  you know me, you know I were the same clothes all the time.  I don't have much to choose from.  With a 4 year old that is growing like a weed, I have been putting all my cash into his wardrobe.

Thanks for stopping buy to find out more about me. Please feel free to let me know your answers here or leave me your link, so I can go check them out myself!

Thankful Thursday

We have made it through to another Thankful Thursday.  This month it is hosted by Lynn from Spiritually Unequal Marriage.  Hop on over to link up and share what you are thankful for this week.  Don't be afraid to share it with me too in the comment section!

Have you ever wanted to be like someone else?  Everyone has.  There is always that one feature from someone else that you wish you had.  I was always happy with myself.  The only things I wanted that others had was nice smooth clear skin.

As a teen I was plagued by pimples and horrible skin.  My face was the typical teenager face.  I didn't think so though.  Everyone around me seemed to be immune to acne.  Now that I'm well past that stage in life, I can look back and see that I wasn't the only one.  I was one of the worst though.

I also wanted the spunk and bravery some of the others had.  I was a shy sweet soul.  I didn't volunteer for much and didn't excel in the social department.  I was never the outcast, just the sweet girl you could overlook or include when you thought about it.

Now that I'm an adult a lot of that has changed.  I no longer have bad skin, even though I do have some scars.  I am a sweet soul, but have learned not to be so shy.  Life has taught me to stand up and say what I want or need.  If I want something I have to get up and get it, or someone else will.

In all of this I have realized that I am different.  God made me this way.  He gave me all the tools to be the person He wanted me to be.  All I had to do was use them.  I am thankful for my individuality!  I am thankful I was made the way I am.  Life has taught me a lot.  No longer do I wish for the skin of someone else or the spunk and bravery of others.  I have what I need and can proudly be the person The Lord made me to be.  With the skin and soul God gave me I have attracted a husband and have a son.  My family loves me for me and I am the happiest I have ever been.  God is good.  He will always want me to be happy and has made me in His image.

Where Did This Come From?

A few days ago I was sitting here at my kind of trusty computer, listening to my son play his Vtech Vsmile in the next room.  (A Vtech Vsmile is a learning game you plug into the tv and play.)  He was playing his Dora the Explorer game and he was learning and having fun at the same time!

As I worked on the computer I saw Charlotte pass me and go into the room Will was in.  Next I heard "I'll Smack you down like a smack-a-damion."  What????  Who is he going to smack down and more importantly, where did he get that from?

After many questions on my part, and lots of confusing answers on Will's part, I have come to figure out that he was talking to Charlotte.  Apparently Charlotte decided to try and help Will play his game.  Will didn't care for the help.  Especially since it was coming from the dog!

So, where did he get the "Smack you down" thing from?  I still don't know.  He hasn't said it since though.  I wonder if I should be paying a little more attention to Dora the Explorer.  After all she is getting into her teen years.  Just the other day I saw the Dora doll in the store that was a teen.  My question is.....why?....I don't know a teenager who still likes Dora anyways.

This is the Dora Will watches!

This is the teen Dora!

I don't know if I trust the Teen Dora.  What do you think?

Nachomamatees GIVEAWAY!!!!! (CLOSED)

I am so excited to be able to tell all of you that I am hosting another giveaway!  Yea!!!!! Nachomamatees has allowed me to do a Review and Giveaway!

Since they are letting me do a review, I decided to let my Hubby help with it.  Together, we chose a shirt that he would review.  My Hubby is a 3xl and that is a size that is hard to find.  Normally we have to pay more for it and it isn't always that good of a quality.  So, we went through all the funny shirts they had and saw these really funny ones.

All boys love to fart! Well, in my house they do!

This is a shirt I actually ordered a few months back for myself and really like!

I didn't get this one at first, but then Hubby explained it to me.  Apparently Geology is the study of rocks.  Get it?  Rocks Rock!  I guess this is a shirt for smart people who think they are funny.

Info from the site:

Nacho Mama Tees (http://www.nachomamatees.com/) has some of the best offensive t shirts around. Founded in 2004 the t-shirt giant offers funny shirts which include chuck norris shirts, hangover t shirts and zombie tshirts. They provide a variety of funny t shirts and crazy shirts.  With new mens vintage tees and great movie t shirts you are sure to find one you will fall in love with!

So, what shirt do you think Hubby decided to get.  The shirt for funny smart people of coures!  He loves it and it fits really good even though, in the picture I took of him, he has the shirt on with long johns under it.  The quality is very nice and I think he will be wearing this shirt a good bit.

Meet Me On Mondays!

Meet Me On Monday is hosted by Java over at Never Growing Old.  She asked the following questions and we all answerer them.  This lets us all learn a little more about the people behind the blogs we all love.

Here are today's questions.

1.  What is your favorite kind of fudge?  I didn't know that they have a lot of different kinds of fudge.  As far as fudge is concerned, I like it in something.  Like brownies, cake, candy, and so on.  I'm just not that big of a fudge fan on it's own.

Brownies Pictures, Images and Photos

2.  Is there snow outside your window?  No.  I'm in South Louisiana and it is currently 50 degrees right now.

This really is my kitchen window!

3.  What is your favorite meal of the day?  I'm not sure.  I'm not a big breakfast person, but I do LOVE breakfast for dinner.  I like lunch, but it is more of a grab and go thing.  A lot of time it's just a pb&j.  Dinner, or Supper as we call it here, is the big meal for us.  I make something and we all sit down and eat together.  I guess it would be Dinner.

4.  Do you text on your cell phone?  I never really did that much until about 2 years ago.  I can't always call Hubby at work, but I can text him and he can get back to me when he can.  I also found out that some people are better to text.  If you call them with a simple question, you will be on the phone with them for an hour.

5.  Waffles or pancakes?  I don't get them very often, but I love waffles.  At one time I wanted a waffle maker, but then realized I would be making a lot of waffles and would get so fat. LOL! So I never got one.  I like waffles because you can get them a little crunchy and they hold the butter so well! mmmmmmmmm Now I want one!

LOL!

The Gift....That Kept On Giving

Some people are so hard to buy gifts for.  They either have everything, don't like anything, or they are 4 years old!

Will got a gift for Christmas that was one of those gifts that just kept on giving!  Giving us a bad headache.  He got this Electric Motor Kit that you have to build a real battery powered electric motor.  You put the motor into the plastic boat (included) and watch it cruise.  This kit came with 33 pieces and a 16-page instruction booklet!  It also said for ages 8 and up.

Will broke our heads to put this thing together every day for a week after Christmas.  We finally gave in.  Hubby was going to attempt this for Will............It took him hours of work, lots of cursing, my help, and he was shocked multiple times.  He was sporting a big blister made by one of the times he was shocked by this electric motor.  After all this, it was put together.  We held our breaths and turned it on.......It did nothing.  (More Cursing!)

(This is the picture on the back of the box of the 33 pieces!)

Thank goodness Will was in the bath tub by this time.  (Hollering "Is it done yet!" He wanted to put it in the tub with him!!!!! Not going to happen!)

Kenny finally called a friend of his who is an electrician to talk to him about it.  Around 11:00 pm his friend Gordon (the electrician) came over and looked at it.  He couldn't see why it wouldn't work.  He decided to take it home with him.  It was midnight by this time.

The next day Kenny picked it up.  It was running like a top.  Apparently Kenny had placed one wire in the wrong direction.  It worked now though, and we waited to show Will!  He would be so thrilled!!!  When he came into the room he asked if it was fixed.  When we told him it was, but then explained that he couldn't just take a bath with it.  He was a little bummed.  Then  he asked if he could just have the plastic boat it sat in, and take a bath with that.  Of course we said yes.

The built electric motor!

The plastic boat part now in the tub!

A few hours later he was as happy as could be, taking a bath with his new boat!  If we had only know that the plastic boat would make him happy we wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of making the motor work!!!  Well, it's done now.  It took two men in their 30s to do the kit made for an 8 year old, given to a 4 year old.  WOW!

Thankful Thursday!

This Thankful Thursday is a great one for me.  This year has been hard financial wise.  We have had our good times financially, but since literally the week Will was born we have been struggling.  I stoped working to be a full time stay at home Mom and Wife.  This brought us down to one pay check.  As the economy went south, so did Hubby's pay check.

Last year Hubby took a new job.  Making less per hour, but with the promise of raises in the future that would get us where we wanted to be in the long run.  This meant we struggled like never before this year.  Hubby even changed his tax status, so that we would get a little more each check.  Because of this, we knew there was a chance we would have to pay taxes this year.

Hubby came home with a his head hung yesterday.  He handed me his W2 and just knew this was going to hurt us.  I told him not to worry.  The Lord was good to us all year.  We didn't go hungry and our lights stayed on.

I got to work on the taxes as soon as dinner was done.  I finished today and found out we wouldn't have to pay!!! We even where getting a refund!!!!  The Lord is so good!!!!  We still have bills and we still have a smaller paycheck coming in, but we will be ok!  Another year has passed and His love is felt!  As He promised, He will always take care of us!

What are you thankful for today.  Hop on over to Spiritually Unequal Marriage and link up!

When Are You Really A Grown Up?

I always wondered how you knew when you where really a grown up.  When I was a child, I figured a certain age made you a grown up.  Later in life I thought.....well, it's when you feel grown up.   Then I learned a grown up had lots of responsibilities.  Maybe that made you grown up.

I have now come to realize that, I don't know when I will be grown up.  They say you are the age you feel.  I always felt very young at heart but with an old soul.  This made it very confusing for me.

A few months ago, I realized I was calling the girls at the check out counter at the local grocery store kids.  They where either girls that had just graduated high school or where about to.  Then I found myself calling some young mother at the library a kid with a kid.   I even found my self thinking that the 25 year old girls I know act so much like kids.  "They don't know anything about life yet" is what I thought.  "They will just have to learn through trial and error like the rest of us" was my next thought.  Oh my!!! Does that make me old!!!!

This is when it hit me.  These are the age groups I use to associate myself with as equal.  When did I start thinking of these people as kids?  I'm going to be 30 in two months.  Is that it?  No, I don't think so.  I think I am just figuring out that I am now a grown up.  When did it happen?  I'm not sure.  I think it just happened.

Does anyone else feel this way?  Did being a grown up just sneak up on you?  I don't think it had anything to do with age.  I know people a good bit older than me with more kids than me, and they still didn't grow up yet.  What do you think?

Meet Me On Mondays!

Meet Me On Mondays is a great way to get to know me as well as so many others.  Feel free to leave your answers to these questions in the comment section or to hop on over and link up with Java who is hosting at Never Growing Old.

Today's questions are:

1. Do you like your ice cream in a dish, waffle cone, pretzel cone, sugar cone or cake cone?  Well now, I like ice cream so much, I will eat it right out of the carton.  I like it in a sugar cone, but then I feel like I didn't get enough stuffed in the cone.  So when I'm at home, I just fill up a bowl.

ice cream Pictures, Images and Photos

2.  Do you read the newspaper daily?  No.  I am not big on the paper unless it has coupons in it.  I do read the local Tuesday paper from front to back, but it is only two pages.  I mostly look for local garage sales and for some reason I love the miscellaneous section.  Look at this dress made of newspapers.  Who would have thought!

Newspaper Dress Pictures, Images and Photos

3.  Marinara or meat sauce?  Well, that all depends on what you are putting it on.  I  love meat sauce the most though.

4.  Last time you cried?  Ha! Ha!  I am a very emotional person.  I cry over a book I'm reading lots of times.  I cry over a sad song.  I laugh so hard, I often cry.  I cry for anything.  I have an overabundance of tears, so have to let them out often. LOL!  So, the last time I cried was most likely a few days ago.

5What word/phrase do you find really annoying?  I really think "cool beans" is annoying!  Very few people around here still say it, but really......why?  It's not cool!

Thankful Thrusday

Today I have to share what I am thankful for with the world.  I am trying to memorize more verses from the Bible every day.  This is the one I learned last night.  I have just started believing in myself and that I can memorize verses.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.

You would not believe the joy in my heart at this moment.  As I am writing this post, Hubby shared with me that this is one of the verses he memorized also.  Praise the Lord God for my filled  heart!

You can share and link up with what you are thankful for this week with us at Spiritually Unequal Marriage.

Sometimes, People Just Make Me Sick!

Forgive me Lord, but some of the people in this world really need your help!

Sunday was one of those days when I said that over and over.  It started early that morning at Church.  Yes, Church.  Children's Church to be exact!  You see, a few weeks ago I bought 3 boxes of individually bagged animal cookies for the kids.  Our class is made up of 3 to 6 year olds (with a few exceptions).  After each class we give the kids something to snack on.  It is really close to lunch time by then and they really enjoy it.  We have a few kids with certain food allergies and so, the cookies work for everyone.

I got to Church Sunday to find out that the 15 year olds form a Wednesday CCD class had come in our room, felt hungry, and so went to the closet and pulled out the 2 1/2 boxes left.  They then decided to eat every last one and leave the mess behind.  (Cookie crumbs on the floor and all!)  I was shocked!  What happened to the teacher in charge of them?  Did she care as little as they did about the little kids?  This is not the first time they have come in our class room and played around leaving a mess, but to eat the little kid's snacks!!!  I don't know who their CCD teacher is, but are they really learning about Jesus here?  What exactly are they doing.

Then I come home to find out that a playground in a local town was burnt to the ground!  It was a beautiful playground made our of mostly wood.  It had been the same playground we where going to bring Will to Saturday, but ended up not having time.  We  had promised him we would bring him another day.  Now the playground is gone.  On top of that, they think it was destroyed by arson. My question is Why?  Why would someone do something like that?  It was for the children people!  The children!!!

I then made the mistake of watching the local 10 pm news.  After watching the news and hearing about all the other stupid people in the world, I remembered why I don't watch the news anymore.  Now I just read it on the Internet.  Why would that one guy open fire on all those people in Arizona?  Did he realize he was going to kill Innocent people?  For goodness sakes, a 9 year old girl was killed among others!!!!

This is why people just make me sick sometimes!  I just have to remember that not all people are that way!

Meet Me On Monday!

Welcome to Meet Me On Monday!  You will find that you can learn a lot about someone by joining in on this wonderful meme.  It is hosted my Java over at Never Growing Old

Today's questions are:

1.  Have you (only you..not a group) ever won first place in anything?  I have won first place before in a High School Science fair.  Not only did I win first place, but I won prize for having the best project in the school.  (The categories covered science, history, math, and more.)  I am very proud of this still! I wish I had a picture to share, but I will tell you that I made my own barometer!  I also won first prize in science the year before too.  (But, not first overall in the school.) That year I showed how to grow radishes in a homemade green house.  Yea, I know I'm a smarty pants. LOL!

2.  Are your toes always painted (sorry guys...this question for girls only)?  My toes are ALWAYS painted in the summer.  In the winter I give them "breathing" time.  They get to rest for the colder months when they are covered in socks.

3.  What color eyes do you have?  My eyes are Hazel.  They seem to change with what I'm wearing.  I like this fact.  With my red hair and a blue shirt, I have amazing light blue eyes.  With a green shirt, I have beautiful green eyes!

4.  Look to your left....what do you see?  My kitchen sink.  Nice and empty.  I just did the dishes! Yea Me!! I love a good clean kitchen.

5.  Soft cookies or crunchy cookies?  Well now, that all depends.  I like both really.  I don't discriminate on my cookies.  All cookies are yummy to my tummy!  I do like homemade cookies softer, but store bought a little crunchier.  Who am I kidding.  You offer a cookie, I'm gonna eat it!

Thank you for visiting my page! I am still having some computer dificulties and am behind on visiting others, but will be swinging your way soon!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday this month is hosted by Lynn over at Spiritually Unequal Marriage.  Head on over and link up, and share what you are thankful for today!

Lynn made her post this week about fresh beginnings or fresh starts.  I think I will join her today.  As I think of all the things that happened in 2010 that I am thankful for, the list gets longer and longer.  So, to make this post shorter and save you some time, I will only list a few here.

1.  My Hubby was found to have high blood pressure and is now on meds that seem to help a lot.  I am so thankful this was found when it was.  If not, no telling what could have happened.  I don't even want to think about loosing my soul mate so soon in life.  Now we know about his high blood pressure and are changing how we live.

2.  We had no visits to the Hospital this year.  We are healthy and doing well.

3.  Our family is growing!  We have more babies to love and old friends back in our lives.  Some old friends we haven't seen in a long time have come to visit us in 2010!

4.  God has blessed us with another year of watching our son grow up bigger, healthier, and older.  I can only hope He gives us many more!

5.  We still have electricity, water, food, and a house to live in.  Our credit cards took a hard hit this year, but we still made it through!  Best of all, Hubby has a good job.  So many others don't have some or any of these things.  I know we are truly blessed!

6.  I have become closer to God than I have ever been.  I have even heard His calling and now teach Children's Church!  I have a lot more understanding and love than I have ever had, and can't wait to become the Woman God wants me to be.  I am on the right track and want to say thank you to all of you who have helped me along the way!  You may not have even realized it, but my bloggy friends have helped a lot!

I pray that 2011 will bring more great things!  For now I will be taking it one day at a time, and trying my best.  I can't wait to see what this year will be like.  That may mean I will be one year older this year, but it also means I will have one more year to enjoy life and all that it brings with it!
I love the luxury of a late morning.  When you can sleep in for just a little longer.

It's no secret that I'm not a morning person.  (I'm not much of a night person either, but that's another post all together.)  I am one of those kinds of people that love to lay in a warm, soft, comfortable bed and just listen to the world around me as I fall in and out of sleep.  But, as most Moms know, this is not possible to do the majority of the time.

Some mornings Hubby will get up earlier than me (he is more of a morning person) and keep Will from waking me up.  This allows me to sleep a bit longer and have the joy of listening to my little family as I lay all snuggled up in my bed.  I love to here the conversations Hubby and Will have when I'm not in the room.

Yesterday I awoke to a morning like this.  I could here then making breakfast in the kitchen and Will talking nonstop.  I don't remember all of what they said, I just loved to here their voices.  After they made breakfast, Hubby let Will come to tell me breakfast was ready.  He climbs up in the bed and wakes me up as I pretend to be sleeping.  (I think he enjoys this just as much as making breakfast with Daddy.)  I realized that this was one of those little moments in time that I would always remember, and will miss so bad when He grows up.  I just thought I would share this with everyone today and remind you to grab those little moments in life that won't be there forever.

Meet Me On Mondays

Meet Me On Mondays is another way for everyone to get to know who I am just a little better.  It is hosted by Java over at Never Growing Old.  I would love to here your answers to these questions here in my comment section or over at your own blog.  Just link up and share who you are with all of us!

Today's questions are:

1. Do you have any New Year's resolutions?  I'm not a resolution kind of girl.  I don't think I should make a resolution just because it's the new year.  I make resolutions when I find something in my life needs to change.  I believe a New Year's resolution is something you make because everyone expects you to, but you kind of know you won't keep it.  I did just recently decide to "try" not compair myself to others and not to "try" to be the perfect person I think people are expecting me to be.  We shall see how that turns out. The second one will be the hardest for me!

2.  What food item are you craving right now?  That's funny, because I am sitting here eating nacho cheese with crackers (its one of those prepackaged deals I got for Will) and drinking a Dr. Pepper (which I am addicted to, so always crave).

3.  When is your birthday? March 31st!

4.  What were you doing an hour ago?  Cleaning out my laundry room.  I took my Christmas decorations down today and was trying to organize and store my totes which hold it all.  I store it all in the laundry room, so had to clean it up and make room for the extra tote I added this year.  (That's what happens whey you add to your Christmas decor.)

5.  Last thing you cooked?  Since I am doing writing this post on Sunday night to post for Monday morning (something I hardly ever do), the last thing I cooked was dinner.  I fried some chicken which Will and I at as is, and Hubby added his favorite buffalo sauce to his.  So healthy I know!
