Meet Me On Monday

Another Monday is upon us and  that means another day for you to get to know me!  As always Meet Me On Monday is hosted by Java over at Never Growing Old.

Today's questions are:

1. What are you wearing right now?  I have on my p.j.s with an old house coat.  The only thing better than not having to get dressed right after you get up, is sleeping late!

2.  Do you have any freckles?  There is no way around it for me.  I have light skin and red hair.  Of Course I have a ton of freckles!  I have so many that when I was young we played connect the freckles on my arms.  Now that I'm a good bit older, they are all starting to blend together. LOL!

This is not me, but I thought it was cool anyway!

3.  What is your favorite Lifesaver flavor?  Well, when I was young I chocked on a Lifesaver candy.  The only reason I didn't suffocate before someone helped me was because of the little hole in the middle.  Now I just don't eat them.  Thank you God for that little hole!

4.  What is the last movie you saw in the theater?  We don't get to go to the movies much.  In my whole life, I have only seen about 10 movies in the theater.  My Hubby and I got to see our second movies since Will has been born for our 6th anniversary.  It was the new Robin Hood movie.  It was very good!

5.  Would you rather live without tv or without music?  I would much rather live without tv!  Music is part of our every day lives and Hubby is a great musician!  I don't watch much tv now anyway.  It is mostly on cartoons for the noise.  Will plays and listens.

What's Next?!?!

Have you been to Walmart lately?  I make my trip once every two weeks and really started wondering about Walmart.

Have you ever noticed all the things Walmart offers its customers?  You can get almost anything there.  You can buy groceries, clothes, jewelry, toys, tires for your car, electronics, floor steamers, beds, diapers, pet food, prescriptions refilled, and so much more!  The things that are surprising me aren't on the store floor though, but when you first walk in.

When you walk in and turn to your left or right you can get your taxes done, have your nails done, get a new hair cut, check your bank account, eat some fast food (like McDonalds or Subway), have the oil in your car changed, and now get your teeth cleaned.  Yes, I saw a dentist's office in a Walmart recently!  I have even heard rumors about a doctor's office coming!  There is even a Walmart I have been to that has a used car dealership out side in the parking lot.  It was called Wheel-Mart! LOL! Can you believe that!!!!  What are they going to have next, a Motel-Mart.  They do guarantee the lowest prices around.

What do you think?  Is Walmart getting a little to big for it's britches, or is this really the best thing to happen?  I think Walmart has already put to many small grocery stores out of business, so why are they now trying to drive out the other small businesses?  I have used some of the services they offer, but I don't think I will be going to Walmart for all my needs.

Why Are My Pants Yelling At Me?

That's right! I am on a new journey.  If you have been following along with my blog for a while, then you know that over a year ago, I decided I needed to go on a new journey.  A spiritual journey to become closer to Jesus.  This journey has been an amazing one.  One that I will consider myself forever on until the day I come face to face with God.  I am closer to Him than I have ever been before!

Now I am adding a new journey to my life.  I have recently felt like my pants where yelling at me!  Every time I put them on they yell "Loose some wight fatty!  Then maybe you'll be able to breath better in us!".  So, I decided to do something about it.  I have tried the diet thing and....well, I like food.  I want to be able to eat food I like.  I know I will have to eat smaller portions and all that, but I don't want to give up all the foods I love.  (Yes, I know the cake and cookies have to be VERY limited!)

I have heard great things from the P90X workout DVD.  I also heard how hard it is!!!!  Never the less, I decided to give it a try.  I started the workout on February 17.  I took down my measurements so that I can see if I really do get results.  (I don't own a scale, so couldn't write down my weight.)

With this program I do a different workout every day.  One the first day I did Chest and Back.  My arms felt like jello after that.  On the second day I did Poymetrics.  That was so far the hardest work out yet!  I only got past what they call the "warm up".  Let me tell you!!!! The warm up is half the video which is over an hour long.  I decided to pace myself.  I don't want to get sick or hurt myself or anything! Right!!!! (Plus I could  hardly walk after the "warm up".)  Ok, so the third day I got to do shoulders and arms.  That one was ok.  Yesterday I did the yoga one.  I didn't like it as much until the end.  The moves they did then was more like the palates I have done in the past.  Of course it didn't help any that yoga was suppose to be calming and quite, while my child was running, chasing the dog, yelling "Mommmm" and destroying half the house the entire time!  Today I did Legs and Back.  That one is ok too.  It defiantly helped to stretch out the muscles that still hurt from the first day!

All in all, I don't think it's that bad.  I didn't quite keep up with the instructor, but I forgive myself.  It's only my first week.  I have to do this for 13 weeks strait.  By the end I should be right on with the instructor and his people on the DVD.  I also think I need heavier weights.  I have been using 2 lbs and I think I need 5 lbs.  I will be getting some soon.  (They use 10 to 25 lb ones in the dvd! They are crazy fit though!)  I also don't do the pull ups they do.  I don't have a pull up bar in my living room!  Did they really think I would?!?!  I sound like such a slacker, but my acking muscles tell me a different story!

So, do you think I will keep on track?  Ok have some faith in me people!!!  Tell me what you think of this P90X?  What do you do to stay fit?  Does anyone want to come and do this with me? PLEASE!!!!! LOL!

True Bargains Are Out There!

I love reading some of those blogs that have great deals listed.  I love the free samples and latest coupons they blog about.  I have even read some reviews they posted and then went out and got the item they reviewed (or avoided like the plague if they had a bad review about it).

I always think to myself, they are so lucky to find all those bargains.  I know a lot has to do with the amount of stores they have to choose from and the competition between those stores.  Living here in a small town with the biggest competition being between two dollar stores, I don't normally find great deals.

Well, I found my first really good bargain at a chain store last week.  We visited the cite on our family day last week and stoped to do a little shopping at Target.  (We rarely get to go to Target!)  I was wanting to get a good set of wash cloths and couldn't decide on the set I wanted.  Hubby wondered off and found a bargain area they have.  (Normally I know where all the bargain areas are in the stores I shop and go there regularly.  I call them junk aisle. lol!)  I was amazed with there bargain area.  They had a package deal of 4 fluffy white towels for $9.99 and dusting clothes marked down to a crazy low price too.  I don't remember what the price was, but that is what Hubby thought I was looking for.  What I did find was packages of Women's and Girls underwear marked down to $2.49!  I also saw Men's underwear and socks marked down too.  We had just got Hubby some new socks and paid $7.00 for 6 pairs.  They had 10 pairs for $4.00!  Hubby also found a twin blanket he just had to have to cover up with.  It was nice and fleece and warm looking.  It was marked down to $6.00.

So what did I end up paying?  Well I got two packs of Women's underwear and the fleece blanket for:

Women's Underwear at $2.49 (marked down from $8.99)
= $4.98

Fleece blanket at $6.00
= $6.00

Total = $10.98

And that was my big Bargain!  I know it doesn't compare to the ones my bloggy friends in the city find, but I am still proud of it. LOL!

Thankful Thursday

Today Thankful Thursday is hosted by Laurie at Women Taking A Stand.  If you would like to join us, hop on over and link up.  Don't forget, you can always leave what you are thankful for here in my comment section also.

This week Valentines Day was celebrated and then forgotten.  Leading up to Valentines Day the stores had a ton of chocolate hearts and roses in stock.  Every where you looked you could see heart shaped balloons, but I happened to go to the store the day after Valentines Day and noticed every one of those boxes of chocolates and heart shaped balloons on sale!  The store had cleared the holiday isle to start putting up Easter baskets and plastic eggs.  They started putting out the chocolate rabbits in place of the chocolate hearts.  Valentines Day was over and then forgotten.

In my house Valentines Day means very little.  We love each other on a daily basis.  We don't have to put one day aside a year to show how much we care.  We didn't go out to eat,  there where not heart shaped balloons, and no running around to find a baby sitter.  Hubby happened to be off and we spent the day together as a family.  I did cook a good roast and gave Will and Hubby handmade cards with boxes of chocolate.  This was my way of teaching Will about the holiday and having a craft to do together.  We made cards together!  Hubby loves those little chocolates filled with orange and strawberry.  You can only get them at Valentines Day in those heart shaped boxes.  We did go and try to see how much they discounted those same boxes the next day.  It was just our luck they where all gone though. LOL!  They may be Hubby's favorite holiday candies.

Other than that, we had a family filled day.  We stayed home and spent time together.  We had friends and family stop by through out the day.  It was a very nice Valentines Day indeed.  What I am trying to say here is that I am very thankful that our family doesn't need one day a year to show our love for one another.  Every day is a day like that in our home.  One any given day you can see Hubby come home with some candy and my roses grow very nicely with my love and care in the yard.  Our love is a gift from God and we celebrate it through the year!  He has given us to each other and in His plan for us our love grew.  That is what I am thankful for!

Sew Prettty.....

I have been working on a dress for a very special little girl.  I have a friend who had a miracle baby.  I have mentioned her here before, but it has been a while.  My friend had a few miscarriages before she became pregnant with her little girl.

Her pregnancy was not an easy one.  She had complications and spent a good bit of it in the hospital.  Because of the complications, her daughter was born with a club foot and a hip that was out of place.  Her precious little girl has gone through a few surgeries and a few casts thought her little life.  She has died on the surgery table and was brought back to life.  We are all certain that the power of prayer and our Lord Jesus is the only thing that saved her.

Her first birthday passed last month and I was beyond happy to help.  Her parents wanted her birthday to be special and so made her first birthday cake themselves.  Her mother baked it and I iced it.  It was so pretty.

Not long after her first birthday, she had to have another surgery.  This time she was going to be in a full body cast.  I couldn't imagine how a one year old would be able to handle being in a full body cast, but she is a special child.  She is almost always happy!  She laughs and giggles like any other child.  She plays and has even learned to scoot around in her cast.  She moves her head and shoulders and then moves her bottom which moves the entire cast.  She is amazing.

Since she is only a year old and in a full body cast, her mother can't find clothes that fist her correctly.  I decided to volunteer to make her some custom dresses.  My friend gave me a pattern of a dress she liked and some material.  Off to work I went.  I made the dress in a larger side and custom fit the straps and top to fit a smaller child.  This is the picture of the finished dress.

I plan to make her another one soon, but I wanted to share this one with my blogging world!  It's simple, but I enjoyed making it.

Meet Me On Monday!

Wow! Another Monday.  They come quick don't they.

Meet Me On Monday is hosted by Java over at Never Growing Old.  Hop on over and link up.

Today's questions are:

1.  Did you get any Valentine's Gifts?  Well it is very early in the morning right now, so I don't know yet.  I don't always get gifts for any holiday though.  I am usually the gift giver in the family.

2.  What is your favorite topping on something toasted?  Butter!!!! (This could explain why I'm so fat. lol!)

3.  Do you pick out your outfit the night before? Not normally.  I only do that if I have some kind of special occasion to go to.  I do try to have my best close clean and put up, so that I can choose what I will wear to church though.

4.  What food item do you absolutely despise?  If you haven't figured it out yet, I am a food loving kind of person.  I don't really despise any food.  With that said, I don't really like green beans.  I have been told I just haven't had them cooked right.  Whatever that means.  I will try them different ways though.

5.  Righty or lefty?  I am right handed, but use my left hand quite well also. I think this is because when I was young I broke my right arm and had to learn to use my left hand for a lot of things.

A New Site for Spiritually Unequal Marriages!

Today I want to share with you a blog that I have been following for some time.  It's called Spiritually Unequal Marriage and is written by Lynn and Dineen.  Now if you follow my Thankful Thursday post you will recognize this blog.  Lynn often hosts Thankful Thursday.

This blog is written for those who are in a marriage that is not spiritually equal.  Lynn and Dineen believe that Jesus is the son of God, but their husbands doe not.  If this sounds like your marriage, they can be really encouraging and this may be a blog for you.  Now my husband and I are both Christians and so are equally in our beliefs.  Never the less I enjoy their blog.  It still feeds my soul and I enjoy it very much.

Today they announced their sister site and I wanted to share it with you here.  You can find it at http://www.winninghimwithoutwords.com/.  Check it out!  You will be amazed at the incite these two lovely women offer!

My Foot Warmer Tutorial

The weather has been down right cold the last week.  With the wind chill it has been in single and double digits here.  That is very unusual and my feet are not happy.  With my bad circulation, if I lived in a more northern state, I would have had frost bite in my toes long ago.

My feet hurt so bad last week that they hurt!  I wore two pairs of socks and slippers and then got in bed.  They stayed cold for another 2 hours before I could go to sleep.  That is when I had the great idea of making a foot warmer.

I took some old cloth I had left over from some old p.j. material and cut it the size I wanted.  (I didn't measure anything.  I just kind of guesstimated.)

Then I folded it in half with the wrong side showing.  I pined together two of the sides that I wanted to sew together, leaving one end open.

Next I sewed along the edges that I pined!

After the two sides are sewn closed, I then reached in the open end and turned it inside out.  This makes brings it back to the right side or the pretty side of the fabric that you want to show on the outside.

I then folded the open side in and added about 2 to 3 cups of rice.  That's right.....rice!

After the rice is in, pick it up and make the rice shift down to the bottom.  Then pin together and sew closed the open end.

Congratulations!  You now have your very own foot warmer.  Now all you have to do is pop it in the microwave for a minute or so.  I like mine really warm, (almost hot) so I put it in for a little over a minute.  Then just put it on your feet!

I like to sleep with mine!  It tends to stay warm for a long time in the bed.  The only down fall I can find with my new foot warmer is that it smells like cooked rice or pasta.   That is not a big deal to me since I am the daughter of a rice farmer.  I grew up with the smell of cooked rice.  Lol!  My feet are now warm and that's all that matters to me!

If you end up making one please let me know.  I would love to know others found this tutorial helpful!

Thankful Thursday

This week has been one of those weeks where I am thankful for many things.  One of the big things that I will share today is our family time.  Hubby has a job that has a really crazy schedule.  He works two days off  then he is off two days, works a few weeks on day shift and then works a few weeks on night shift, but this allows us to have so much more family time.

Today is a weekday, but he is off.  With Will not yet in school, we are able to make plans on the spur of the moment.  Yesterday we decided that today would be one of those days.  We are going out to lunch in the city (or the closest thing to a city we have) with friends.  From there we will spend time together shopping and being together as a family.  We will end our day with a nice dinner at home.  This is the kind of time that not every family gets to spend together.  For this time, I am thankful!  This is a time in our lives that we will always remember.  Next year will be totally different with Will in school.  We will have so much more going on and so much less time to do it all.

So what are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursday is hosted this month by Laurie at Women Taking A Stand.  Hop on over and join us!

On The Light Side....

Today I figured I would just do a post on the light side.

Here are some cute pictures I found and thought I would pass them along!  Enjoy!

Gurrrr!

I had this great post that was going to go up today.  I had it all worked out in my head.  I wrote half the post and was going to add the pictures from my phone which I had to bluetooth to my computer.  It was all working out fine, until my computer decided that it would hide the bluetooth pictures I uploaded it it.  I don't know what happened!  The bluetooth thing must not feel like working today=(

So, I will have that post up on a later date.  Just to let you know what you are missing today.  I had a tutorial all worked out for you.  I made my very own foot warmer and wanted to share it with you.  So, if you still want to see it, I will hopefully have it up later in the week.

Until then I will leave you with this picture of one of my plates.  I have a few (very old) saucers that I use on a daily basis for little things.  On this day I was warming up a corn dog for.....um......ok, it was for me.  (Shame on me for eating this junk! That is why I just gained another 2 pounds! Time for a good diet and workout plan!)

All of a sudden I heard the microwave make the kind of noise it makes when you put something metal in it!  I ran to open it and this is what I found.  The small piece that came off was nothing compared to what it did to the plate.  It is hard to see in the picture, but it made a small crack and hole all the way through the plate!

I couldn't believe it!  Now I will be on the lookout for some more small saucers.  I only had a limited supply anyway and needed more.  I have been looking around a little.  Wow, they are hard to find!

Meet Me On Monday!

Welcome to Meet Me on Monday again.  Wow, you are getting to know a lot about me. Lol.  If you want to jump in with us, you can link up with us at Never Growing Old. You can also leave your answers in a comment at the end of my post for me if you want to do that.

Today's questions are:

1.  Did you watch the Superbowl?  I watched the first half.  We can't catch it on our tv and watched some at my Mother-In-Laws.  We left earlier because Hubby had to get up earlier today and go to work.  We did listen to the end on another station though.  We didn't have that much excitement for the game this year.

2.  What is the last book that you read?  I have been reading a lot of Lori Wick books lately and just finished her book "A Gathering of Memories".  I am also in the process of reading "The Cheap Diva's Guide to Frugal and Fabulous Living" by Stephanie Ann.  I won this book in a blog giveaway and am really enjoying it!

3.  What is your favorite kind of cake?  I only eat cake when I'm really in the mood for it.  I LOVE Cheese Cake, but don't get it too often.  I am the only one in the house who likes it and it is a little expensive for just one person.

4.  Do you snore?  Only when I'm really tired or sick.  At leest that what Hubby tells me. LOL!

snoring Pictures, Images and Photos

5.  Do you play an instrument?  I have always wanted to learn to play the violin.  I do have a violin and learned to play a few simple songs on it, but when I started getting into harder stuff I stoped.  I am self taught and don't know anyone who plays.  I am a bit afraid of making a mistake and never being able to fix it once I have learned to do it that way.  I really wish I had a teacher or at lest someone to ask questions of.  For now the violin is in it's case in my room.  I won't let Hubby sell it because I just know I will find a good teacher a week after we let it go=(

I Have A Magic Vacuum!

I always thought that it would be cool to have magical flying broom stick.  No, I don't want to be a witch, I just like the thought of my broom doing something interesting.  Would I even ride it?......I'm not sure.  I would most likely fall off and break every bone in my body, then have to explain that.  They would put me in the crazy house for sure after that story!

I discovered that I have something sooooooo much better than  flying broom stick!  I have a magic Vacuum!!!! (I'm jumping up and down giggling over my vacuum!)  It is sad that I didn't figure out my vacuum's magical power untill now.  It could have really helped me in the first 3 years of my son's life.

You see, I have been vacuuming at night this week because Hubby has been working nights and so sleeping all day.  Twice this week I vacuumed at bed time.  Will was already snug in his bed watching a movie before lights out.  Each time I started vacuuming the room next to his and then the rest of the house.  Every time I went to put the vacuum up and check on him, he was out cold.   The vacuum magically put him to sleep!!!

The first 3 years of Will's life, he didn't like to sleep.  In the first year of his life he would sleep 30 minutes at a time with a 2 hour window em between at night and only take a few small cat naps in the daytime.  His pediatrician said he was just one of those kids that didn't need steep.  What they were forgetting was that Will's Mommy was one of those people that needs sleep.  The powers of the magic vacuum would have come in handy back then.  Oh well, you live and learn!

I have also come to learn that my kitchen appliances have feelings.  They will not work correctly for Hubby.  He tends to curse at them and call them names.  But when I use them, I am loving and gentle.  They work fine for me.  I have told him many times that they don't appreciate his lack of love for them.  (sigh) He just doesn't understand them.  I am starting to wonder if this is also the reason my computer has been acting up lately.

Thankful Thursday

It's Thankful Thursday again and I have so much to be thankful for.  Feel free to share what you are thankful for with me and then link up with our host for this month, Laurie at Women Taking A Stand!

Today I am thankful for my cup being filled!  I have so much.  My cup is filled with the love of my family.  We are sometimes so busy that our paths cross only for an hour or two at a time.  This week was one of those weeks.  Hubby is almost done with his night shift, but it has put a dent in our time together as a family.  On top of that we have all been struggling with our allergies and sinuses.  This makes us all a little cranky and tired.  Which means more arguing and feelings being hurt.   But, we made it through all of that and still love each other.

Winter is moving in on us hard today.  This weeks temperatures droped dramatically from 70 to 30 in an hour.  Since our weather has rivaled that of the northern states.  People in the south are freaking out and acting like the world has turned upside down.  I say....so what?....The Lord has gotten us through hurricanes, what's a little cold weather and freezing rain.  I have seen the promise of warmer weather to come though.  Last year I planted a white hyacinth, two yellow daffodils, and a red tulip all in one pot. After spring moved on I placed the pot with the bulbs outside.  Last week Will noticed that the hyacinth was coming up.  What a beautiful site it was.  When I found out about the freezing weather coming our way I cleaned up the pot and brought it in the house.  Now it sits on my dinning room table and reminds us all that Spring will come again!  Again my cup is filled!  Filled with hope for warmer weather and beautiful flowers.  Times when we can set up the pool, have a bar-b-q in the yard, and wish for a cool breeze in the hot Louisiana heat. LOL!

I spend a little time with may Dad yesterday, which adds to my cup! My Dad is one of my most favorite people in the world.  Add that with the time we spent with a few friends this week, and a few more we will most likely see this weekend, and I think we end up with a cup that is overflowing!  Praise the Good Lord for a cup that is overflowing!

So, what is filling up your cup this week?
