This week I am thankful for the break all Mommy's need once in a while. I found that I needed this break last week. I was getting grouchy and hard to live with.
Hubby stepped up and allowed me to go do the bimonthly grocery shopping all alone. He kept Will for about 2 or 3 hours. I got a nice little car ride with no questions. ( I have been getting tired of the constant questions of if I'm doing the speed limit and going the correct way by a 4 year old!) I then got to go through two stores with no child wanting to go see the fish or go through the toy section promising he wouldn't ask for anything! I was able to do my shopping with only my own thoughts for company. It was so glorious!
I forget sometimes, that he is attached to me 24/7. Very rarely do we get a sitter (one of our parents). It is even rarer that he spends the night away. I can literaly count on my fingers the amount of times I have been without him. What am I going to do next year when he starts school. Some say I will go crazy with nothing to do. I say to them....I have a plan. Hubby and I have already started planing away our free time. Gym memberships, romantic lunches with p.b.&j. sandwiches (just the two of us), watching movies without any interruptions, and sitting on the porch talking! I'm sure there will be days when I go crazy with nothing to do. Those will be the days I will throw myself into house cleaning.
But for now, I am just thankful for those few hours. I love my son, but need some alone time sometimes. And no, trying to take a bath while my 4 year old fights with the dog, who is trying to get her 5 foot long 2 1/2 foot high body under the door doesn't count. LOL!
This month Thankful Thursday is hosted by Grace Alone. Hop on over and join us by telling us what you are thankful on this blessed Thursday!
It is always nice to get a break. I am glad you were able to get one
ReplyDeleteI think its good that you get a break now and then. It will drive both you and Will nuts if you have to spend all the time together. So yea hubby!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. Every mom needs a break now and then!
