Thankful Thursday

Today Thankful Thursday is hosted by Lynn at Spiritually Unequal Marriage .  In her post today she asked a question of us all.  Lynn wanted us to share with her a scripture verse that God is using in our life to craft our character, or one that has exposed a lie, a verse that brought you peace or comfort, or a passage that has inspired us to draw closer to Jesus.

Well, that is a little hard for me.  I have found so many that I feel strongly about.  The one that recently took on a new meaning for me has been...

Romans 14 : 9-21  I met someone recently that made these verses stand out to me.  Romans 14 : 20 is the one that gives me the most when I think of the person that has just come into my life.  It reads....Rather, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burnings coals upon his head.

That is just one of the many scripture verses that have made a difference in my life.  I have discovered so many that have changed my life.  I am happy to share this one with you today.  The friend that made this verse mean so much more to me feels persecuted daily.  She keeps this verse close to her hart and keeps in mind that her treasure in heaven with the Lord.

  2. It IS hard to choose a scripture - there are so many that are so meaningful!

I used to have a high school teacher that would quote the verse about heaping coals of fire on your enemy's head and then paraphrase it by saying "kill them with kindness." She didn't really mean kill them, but kill their bad feelings toward you. It's hard to feel hate towards a person that is doing nothing but being kind!

  3. Thanks for sharing. I have few verses that I hold dear to my heart. Sometimes, during my bible reading, God will make a scripture stand out and it will be just what I needed to read at that time. Blessings to you!!
